A Mid-Width Tape for Mixed Stock
Sheep respect a fence they can see; cattle respect a fence that holds when leaned on. A 36 mm tape sits between the narrow 12 mm ribbon and the heavy 40 mm horse tape, giving visibility to sheep and enough tensile strength for cattle that test the line.
Conductors
Fifteen stainless filaments of 0.2 mm run the full length, giving a low resistance path for the pulse while the PE weave takes the mechanical load. More filaments also mean the tape keeps working if one or two break at a strainer corner, which is where damage usually begins.

Using it in a sheep system
Two wires at 30 cm and 60 cm hold ewes; add a third at 90 cm where lambs are turned out. Because the tape is white, lambs see the barrier at speed and are less likely to run into it during handling. On cattle boundaries, three wires with the tape at chest height give a visible, load-bearing line.
Tension and posts
Use geared reels and wide insulators; narrow pins cut into the weave. On corners, wrap the tape round a corner post insulator rather than bending it sharply, and allow a little slack in very cold weather as the weave contracts.
Fault finding
If voltage falls, walk the line at dusk with a tester. The usual causes are grass contact, a strand broken at a connection, or a tape twisted so the conductor faces away from the clip. Re-terminate the joint rather than adding another knot.
